Water description

Carptwenty, located to the west of Almelo (formerly known as Leemslagenplas), was created by the sand and gravel extraction. The sand and gravel that was extracted here was used in the creation of a new neighborhood in the area, Windmolenbroek. In 2001 work stopped at the lake and since then the lake has been completely left alone and has been taken in by the beautiful surrounding nature.

The clear lake is over 28 hectares in size and is characterized by the erratic course of the lake bottom with depths of over 30 meters in some places. In addition to some interesting deep spots, various plateau’s have formed that make for some interesting hotspots for fishing.
